LAGSL's Opening Day Parade & Carnival is This Saturday!

LAGSL will start its season this Saturday, Feb. 13, with an Opening Day Carnival featuring games, activities, softball, food and more from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Rossmoor Park.

The fun begins with the annual Parade of Teams, starting at Rossmoor Elementary School and marching to Rossmoor Park, where the LAGSL’s Opening Day ceremonies take place kick off at 9:30.

The carnival, which is open to all members of the community (invite your friends!), begins at 10 a.m., with inflatables, a mechanical bull, a dunk tank, game booths, and a rock-climbing wall. There will also be 3-legged races, potato sack races, and hula hoop contests.

The LAGSL’s youngest teams, from the 6 & under division, will play softball games beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Rossmoor Park’s Field #2. At 11 a.m., the Los Alamitos High School softball team, coached by Rob Weil, will play a 3-inning exhibition at Field #1. Later, league players will get to compete in a “Home Run Derby.”

A Bake Sale and food booths, with favorites like funnel cake, kettle corn and shaved ice will also be set up, with proceeds benefiting the LAGSL. LAGSL apparel will also be on sale Saturday. The booths and the carnival are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

---------
NEW! An important request/reminder to players, parents and coaches:
Please DO NOT PLAY on the LAGSL fields when they are saturated following a rainstorm. Not only can it be unsafe to play in wet conditions, playing on wet infields leaves footprints and other indentations on the field, requiring even more hours of work by our dedicated group of field maintenance volunteers. Staying off the wet infields will help ensure our fields are kept in great shape for Opening Day and the upcoming season.

Thank you for your cooperation!
